KiWe Kitchen

Proving that resto-lounge dining isn’t synonymous with pretension, KiWe Kitchen brings simplified supper clubbing to swish King West. Designed by Daniel Harland of Roundabout Studio and Harold Madi of Office for Urbanism, KiWe (a contracted form of King West) is an exercise in understated style. A narrow, dimly lit section with intimate booths leads into the main dining area, which features mod red and white furniture, a long bar, DJ booth and a bulbous centrepiece of nearly three dozen hand-blown glass balls that hang from the ceiling. Chef Chris Straker leans Italian, with selections that include almond gnocchi and lobster ravioli, but such items as burgers and baked chicken breast items announce that the food here is also decidedly down-to-earth. $$
