Art Metropole

General Idea is probably Canada's most famous artist collective. They raised awareness of AIDS, among other things, with their giant pill sculptures. In 1974 the group opened an art store called Art Metropole, and it's still thriving. This store/archive/exhibition space specializes in contemporary art formats that are affordable for almost any collector of artist multiples, small-press books, art videos, sound recordings, art posters and other unique ephemera. If you've ever wanted to own a Michael Snow, Douglas Gordon, or Rodney Graham but don't have the cash, Art Metropole might just have the limited edition you're looking for. You can also shop online.
