The entrance to Bar_One is lined with mosaic tiles, adding a touch of retro warmth to this intimate and sophisticated bar-restaurant that's been a local favourite for years. Designed by Giannone Associates Architects, the team behind the chic Il Fornello on Church Street and College Street's ever-popular Bar Italia, Bar_One features a marble bar, spacious booths and a tiny back patio lit by a glowing box. The menu is simple but sophisticated Italian, including a solid selection of antipasti – such as apple and toasted almond salad and perfectly prepared calamari – and locals can't get enough of the all-day-and-night thin-crust pizza. $$
