Mildred's Temple Kitchen

Polished concrete floors and ottomans crafted from paper and non-woven textiles (from Vancouver’s Molo) are the main ornaments at the newly re-located and re-branded Mildred Pierce, still run by Donna Dooher and Kevin Gallagher. Many Torontonians and Toronto International Film Festival goers will fondly remember to the first elegant Mildred Pierce, tucked in the backend of old warehouse on Sudbury Street and grandiose with its cathedral-height ceilings. Brian Brownlie of du Toit Architects warmed up the split-level space with dark mahogany accents and white Saarinen chairs. The new location in Liberty Village keeps the brunch favourites of black-currant scones and buttermilk biscuits (served with whipped butter and plum compote), and eggs beni Mildred-style (poached eggs overtop smoked salmon and served on a Clafouti croissant). Other popular plates include the crispy whitefish fritters, and on the dinner menu, pork loin chop served with a sauce of pork jus and bourbon.
