YYZ Artists' Outlet
Artist-run spaces are alive and well in the city, and YYZ was one of the first in Canada. These not-for-profit galleries started over 25 years ago as alternative spaces for artists to show their work, and YYZ is still a great place to discover art stars of the future. Solo exhibitions of installation and video art are at the forefront here. Although not averse to showcasing national and international artists, locals often dominate the programming. You can also find titles from YYZBOOKS here, the gallery's small publishing offshoot that specializes in books on art theory and culture.
