This is the very archetype of what could become a new breed of eatery – the Canadian bistro. Understated by intention, Bradley Denton’s butter-coloured leather banquettes and wooden chairs add to the potentially iconic nature of the place. The menu (grilled yellowfin tuna, roasted chicken with lemon, parsnip mash) follows suit. Le Petit Castor is a well-appointed blank slate upon which to draw out your evening. – Bert Archer
