Brookfield Place: Allen Lambert Galleria and Sam Pollock Square

At first glance, Brookfield Place is a straightforward skyscraper complex, consisting of two towers by Bregman and Hamann. Yet between these bland towers sits one of Toronto’s most extraordinary architectural monuments: Sam Pollock Square and the Galleria. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava completed the soaring city block-long intervention in 1992. Inspired by a pine forest, the white-painted steel-and-glass arches create a cathedral-like ground level atrium and arcade linking Yonge and Bay streets.
