Buy Local: Connection Knits

Tarja Yuill never expected to build a business by knitting. She learned the craft from her Finnish grandmother, who crocheted wedding blankets for family members. After she passed away, Yuill decided to continue the tradition – and Connection Knits was born in her dining room in 2011. Yuill’s keepsakes are made using massive wooden needles (sometimes PVC pipes) and mountains of felted Merino and Corriedale wool. To contemporize and highlight the large gauge of interlocking fabrics – in classic rib, seed, and basket weave patterns – each is edged with contrasting lambswool.
