POSTPONED: AZURE Talks: Luca Nichetto in Toronto

Luca Nichetto

Unfortunately, this event has been postponed until further notice. If you already purchased a ticket, you will be contacted shortly.

Join us for an engaging talk with acclaimed Italian designer Luca Nichetto.

On the occasion of the Italian Design Day, AZURE Talks and the Italian Cultural Institute present Luca Nichetto, one of the most exciting industrial designers working today.

The Kurage lamp for Foscarini. The Reflections rug for Moooi. The Luca Collection for Bernhardt Design. Luca Nichetto has produced evocative collections for manufacturers around the world. His Stockholm-based studio is so prolific that it has developed 20 Design Principles that apply to the broad range of work – from products, furniture and accessories to architecture and exhibition design – that it undertakes.

In fact, one of the principles states, “We do not see a separation between objects, interiors or architecture, and design concepts that range from a pen to a chair, or a room or a building.”

Nichetto was born in Venice in 1976 and began his professional career with Murano glass maker Salviati, before moving to Foscarini as a product designer and consultant. He has also served as art director for many international design brands (for instance, Italesse and ZaoZuo), where he has honed his in-depth knowledge of the design industry.

In 2006, he founded his eponymous practice in Venice and five years later moved to Stockholm to open a second studio; he continues to live in and work from the Swedish capital. As his star has risen, he has received numerous international design awards and his work has been the subject of retrospectives in cities such as London, Paris, Stockholm and his hometown.

The lead juror of the 2020 AZ Awards, Nichetto is also developing the trophy that winners will take home at our gala in June. But before that special night, AZURE Talks and the Italian Cultural Institute are thrilled to present his keynote on Tuesday, March 24.

This AZURE Talk is generously supported by the Italian Cultural Institute and Scavolini Toronto in partnership with the George Brown School of Design.

This talk qualifies for one ConEd structured learning hour.
