For five days, the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema will cast its lens on all things constructed and crafted. The first Art, Architecture, Design Film Festival will feature 11 films that explore the histories of city-defining public buildings, esoteric private homes, forward-thinking artists and more, and delve into the lives of the creatives behind them. Screenings will be followed by Q&As with special guests and directors. Our pick: Finn With an Oyster, a look at the massive controversy that erupted around the construction of Toronto’s New City Hall, and how a then-little-known Finnish architect, Viljo Revell, ended up designing one of the city’s most iconic structures. The festival runs from Jan 22-26. For more information and tickets, visit the Hot Docs website here.
