Virgil Abloh’s Eyebrow Raising Ikea Pieces are Coming This Fall

Fashion designer Virgil Abloh’s latest collaboration with IKEA is dripping with his signature irony — and we’re seriously loving it
An Ikea receipt printed onto a giant rug, a modernist chair held up by a door stop, a backlit reproduction of the Mona Lisa. Virgil Abloh, the mind behind genre-crossing brand Off-white, puts ironic quotation marks around everything he does. And his latest capsule collection for IKEA is no exception.

“It’s about elevating the anonymous, everyday icons that we use without noticing,” says the designer. “When we put a doorstop on one of the legs of an ordinary chair
we create something unexpected – an interruption.”

The collection is designed for first-time home buyers (or renters) on the hunt for basics with a sarcastic twist. But with Abloh’s stamp, these are more than entry-level home furnishings. They’re bonafide artworks.
Markerad will be available in-store from November 1st beginning at 6 AM for IKEA Family members and 12 PM for the general public.
