Buy Local: Wheeler Studio

Jason Wheeler’s furniture has an industrial edge borne from a background as a fabricator who designed and built custom cars. Fittingly, the Toronto native set up shop in Oshawa – Canada’s motor city. Toning down his palette from the colourful Meltdown series (walnut cabinets and side tables with “rusted” fronts), his new Vice collection features a tough credenza inspired by the photo-etched plastic components used for building model tanks. Hot-rolled steel and water-punched venting grip the body, which is topped with reclaimed wood. $2,350, at Made, 867A Dundas St W, madedesign.ca; wheelersstudio.com
