How To Make a Statement With Tile

We look to Formula Fig’s fruitful tile installations for inspo on how to transform with tile
Invigorating facials and charming design make up Formula Fig’s second location in Toronto. Since opening this spring, the 1,500-square-foot med-spa centre has brought a unique charm to the Summerhill neighbourhood with its iconic fig-green exterior, reminiscent of the high-gloss facade of the brand’s local flagship on Ossington Avenue. The design-savvy skincare centre makes a perfect case study on the power of bold colour, texture, and how to make a statement with tile.

Designed by Scott + Scott Architects, the interior features large windows inspired by orangeries of 18th century Europe, motivational mirror messages and repurposed materials from previous Fig locations that span the entirety of the space. The Summerhill flooring was repurposed from the brand’s Ambleside location in Vancouver and its first Toronto location on Ossington, which follows their interior trademark of unique tiling with its emerald hues inspired by the subway tiles of the London Tube.

Made from Terrazzo, the stylish and hard-wearing floor tile favoured by Founder Jessica Walsh carries a quiet radiance throughout the building as guests are guided to get a hydrating facial at one of their pods. Designed to mimic the interior of a delicious fig, the washroom extends the checkered floor pattern along its walls with a mix of warm pastel pink and vivid red tiles. At all angles, Formula Fig stays true to its dynamic aesthetic, maintaining an interior design as refined and elegant as its exceptional products. FORMULAFIG.COM
