Quebec’s Luminaire Authentik Brings its Unique Custom Lighting to Toronto

Luminaire Authentik’s new showroom at 1027 Queen Street East, Toronto. Keeping their look fresh, the company develops a new line with a different artist each year.

Luminaire Authentik founder Maude Rondeau saw a need for quality, custom lighting, so she decided to jump into the business herself. Luminaire Authentik grew from a small barn in the Eastern Townships to include showrooms in Montreal and Cowansville, Quebec and now Toronto. “There was a big gap between cheap and way too expensive lighting, so I thought about this concept of personalization for the design expert, but also for everyone,” she says.

With soft palettes and undulating, minimalist forms, LA’s fixtures are pure in form and elegant to behold. Each one is handcrafted in Quebec and the customization points are endless. When you step into the showroom (1027 Queen Street East), you are taken through the process of creating a custom fixture through to final production. The experience taps into the desire many of us have to personalize our own homes. With an approach that’s friendly, fun, LA has tapped into a much-needed niche.

“From A to Z, it’s important to me that the creative and playful experience is reached through all the services we offer,” says Rondeau. “I want clients to feel supported through the process and to let them live through the full creative concept of creating a light fixture to reach the perfect mood!”

With three original lighting styles offered – pendant, wall-mount and free-standing — customers have thousands of customizable options to choose from, such as shape, colour, finish and fixtures. The on-point colours are modern and saturated with something for everyone. Luminaire Authentik offers a 3D mix and match concept tool to try out combinations — you certainly will not have the same lamp as the neighbours. They also have a wide selection of ready-made, quick-ship products for those who want to take a light home right away.

“Toronto is a great design-centric city, and we’re confident both professional and amateur designers alike will appreciate our personalized, sincere service and the infinite possibilities we offer to help clients create their own, perfect space,” says Rondeau.

During the Interior Design Show this year, the Leslieville location will host a showcase of Quebec talent called “La Maison Sensible” with five other Quebec brands coming together to craft a cohesive concept home. The exhibit runs April 8-10, 10 am to 5 pm.
