Sunshine-Ready Patio Chairs for Lounging Around In
It’s spring, so Torontonians are no longer stuck sitting around inside, waiting for warmer weather. Plus, some showrooms are finally – and safely – starting to open back up!
Hey, Toronto. Take a break from self-isolating indoors and practice social distancing comfortably and stylishly in the great urban outdoors. We’ve rounded up seven sunny lounge chairs to enliven your patio, backyard, balcony or stoop this spring season.
The Rafael lounge armchair’s irregular angles and uneven slats affect a thrown-together look, but the brushed teak, broad metal staples and generous upholstery make it anything but. With cushion, $6500, at Suite 22 Interiors.
Eschewing legs altogether, Vondom’s plastic Roulette armchair rests, spins and rocks on its shallow convex base. Available in both matte and lacquered finishes. $1140, at ARD Outdoor Furniture, which is now open! Private shopping sessions (which you can book here) are still recommended, but walk-ins are welcome on a limited basis.
Gloster’s Loop armchair makes for a handsome addition to the deck. Made of buffed teak and upholstered in Sunbrella fabrics, the exposed webbing of the back rests lend this classic form a subtle graphic touch. Call for pricing, at Fresh Home & Garden, which is currently offering in-store visits by appointment and curbside pickup.
Study in Contrasts
With its enveloping, widely-set mesh, the aptly named Basket armchair cocoons sitters while giving them plenty of breathing room. Available in two sizes and colours. Call for pricing, at Kiosk. While the showroom is closed to walk-ins, private showroom visits are available.
In Full Plume
The plucky Peacock lounge chair by Cane-Line fully embraces its sitter with it’s cushy, well-feathered nest. Choose from weave or soft rope shell material: both are temperature- and UV-resistant. Call for pricing at Hauser, which is currently open with precautionary measures in place.
Resting on an aluminum frame wrapped in two-toned, handwoven synthetic wicker, Juper’s plush, metre-wide cushion has room enough for two to curl up comfortably. $1300, at InsideOut Patio, which is now open to a limited number of customers at a time.
In the Round
What a cutie Qui is, eh? Made from aluminum and synthetic rattan, this super-comfy lounge chair is a sophisticated upgrade on the motel chairs of yore. $659, at Jardin de Ville, which has opened its showroom and still offering contactless delivery on phone and online orders.
