Urban Mode Announces Closing Sale + Silent Auction

The auction on Oct 28 will see all proceeds go to charity

After announcing its closing earlier this year, West Queen West’s beloved furniture showroom Urban Mode will officially shutter its doors on October 28. But having served the Toronto design community for 46 years, shop owners Myrlene Sundberg and John Palchinski are making certain they do so in style.

Following its final day of business on Friday, October 27, Urban Mode will mark its closing with a silent auction on October 28. Of these products sold, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charities close to Myrlene and John’s hearts, including Water.org, Habitat For Humanity, Daily Bread Food Bank and the Women Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Prior to the auction, Urban Mode’s Tecumseth Street showroom will remain 80% off store-wide. The auction will take place between 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM on October 28, RSVPs can be sent directly to Myrlene at [email protected] for more information.

Needless to say, after a celebrated run – opening seven stores over four and a half decades – Urban Mode’s Closing event marks not only its farewell, but also cements its legacy of design and generosity. URBANMODE.COM

Entrants have until February 13th to submit their best work

It’s that time of year again! The 2026 AZ Awards is officially open for submissions. Recognizing international design excellence from the world’s top architects and designers, the 11 main categories are: Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interiors, Urban Design, Experiential Graphic Design, Concepts, Emerging, A+ Award for Student Work, Social Good and Environmental Leadership. Last year, AZURE inaugurated the EMERGING Awards to celebrate up-and-coming firms established within the past 10 years in each of the four top categories: Design, Architecture, Landscape and Interiors. Plus, there are more Interiors categories than ever (including Retail & Hospitality, Healthcare, Workspace and Institutional) as well as one recently added in Design (Housewares and Tech Products) — and AZURE will publish its extensive longlist online ahead of the jury-selected shortlist, celebrating a greater spectrum of excellent projects.
