Carl Hansen & Son’s Shell Chair Turns 60

Danish designer Hans J. Wegner is considered to be among the leading furniture designers of the 20th century. A driving force in the Danish Modern movement, his work – particularly in chair design – helped change the way people viewed furniture in the 1950s and ’60s. Often referred to as the master of the chair, Wegner created almost 500 during his five-decade-long career, many of which have achieved iconic status.
